Besides all that is mentioned in the above story Tuttle Creek is constantly adding new areas and features, not to mention hosting events for all ages year round. This year Tuttle Creek has some truly big plans for all those people who love the outdoors or for those who don't go out much but maybe want to and just need a little push.

This year Tuttle Creek is participating in a Geocaching Contest that is being held Statewide. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where coordinates of a box with trinkets inside it is posted online. Those coordinates can be downloaded to a handheld GPS and hunters go out to find the box. See here for details.

Other new things at Tuttle Creek include four new trails, three of which are now open. On the north end there is a new mountain biking trail for the explorer in you. On the south end of the lake is 13 new miles of scenic equestrian and hiking trails. Finally is two new trails starting from the Rocky Ford fishing area going to Dire Bridge and the campground.

When it comes to activities what can beat a four day country music festival. And what if we say it's one of the biggest one in the nation? That's right, come on down to Country Stampede, hosted by Tuttle Creek! This years big line up one main stage includes Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, and Josh Tuner! Dates are June 26-29. Call in for tickets now!

Another event at Tuttle Creek is the Free Fishing weekend on June 7th and 8th. Bring you pole, tackle, and fighting spirit! This weekend only you can fish at Tuttle Creek without a fishing license! The fish are ready for you, are you ready for them?

I came in with the wind behind me and eased the boat up onto the beach. The kids jumped out and started carving their names in the sand. I helped unload the picnic gear. I looked west - the sunset was a few minutes off, so we had time for a ski before dinner.
