Senior outside hitter Rita Liliom said the Cats are exactly where they want to be going into tonight's match.
"I think we're heading down the right track, towards where what we want to be - a hard-working team, disciplined and an efficient team," she said Monday. "I think we're almost there. We still have some to work on, but I think we are close."
Senior middle blocker Magan Farr agreed.
"We were so excited to get the win against Baylor," she said. "Baylor's a really good team and they're going to do really well in the Big 12 and for us to be where we want to be, we needed that win.
"It was a really big win for us."
But for these KSU seniors, this will be the last time they visit Lawrence, a place that has felt like home away from home.
K-State (13-2, 3-1) has won three straight against the Jayhawks (7-6, 1-3) including 23 of the last 25. K-State owned a 21-match win streak over KU from 1995-2005. The last time KU defeated the Cats in Lawrence was in 2006 when it won in four sets.
"I'm excited to go to KU for the last time," Farr said. "It's always hard at someone else's place, but hopefully we'll beat them. It always feels good to take to take somebody on in their own place."
The Wildcats continue action on Saturday when they travel to Texas to face the Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. K-State won't return home again until next Wednesday when it hosts Missouri.
