The Cyclones, who have received votes in the last four CSTV/AVCA Coaches Polls, dropped to 11-8 overall, 5-4 in the Big 12 with their second-consecutive 3-0 loss.
Korobkova led the Wildcat's .237 attack with 18 kills and five errors on 36 attempts for a .361 hitting percentage. The Krasnoyarsk, Russia, native added 10 digs to notch her second-consecutive double-double and fifth overall this season. Rita Liliom converted on 14 kills with .216 hitting, while also recording two service aces.
Senior Angie Lastra had her sixth match of 20 or more digs this season after dishing out 23 against ISU. Three other Wildcats had more than five digs, including nine from senior Lauren Rosenthal. Stacey Spiegelberg finished the night with 46 assists and also registered one service ace — marking at least one in 17 of the last 18 matches.
The Wildcats opened the match with a strong 8-2 lead, including two consecutive service aces from Jantsch to continue K-State's 274-match streak of contests with at least one ace. The Cyclones dug out of the deficit after a timeout with five unanswered points to pull within one at 8-7.
After the first Cats' timeout, the Cyclones remained within one before KSU had four straight to earn a five-point lead at 15-10 and force the final ISU timeout.
Continued sideouts and point runs by the Cats took KSU to a seven point lead at 23-17 off of a Liliom service ace, K-State's fourth of the match.
ISU strung together three points to pull within five at 28-23, but K-State took game one with Liliom's seventh kill of the night, 30-24.
K-State opened the second game with a 2-0 lead, but Iowa State fought back with four straight to capture its first lead of the match.
As each team matched the opponents' points, the game continued with a total of 14 ties in the second set.
With an 11-8 ISU advantage, K-State scored five straight with a start of two Korobkova kills to earn its first lead since 2-1 at 13-11. The Cyclones went on a 4-1 run to regain the lead at 15-14 and eventually captured a three-point advantage at 20-17 and force a KSU timeout.
With two kills for Korobkova and an attack error by Iowa State, K-State forced another tie in the game at 20. After four of the next six points, the Cats gained a two-point lead at 24-22 and brought the Cyclones to a timeout. A 3-1 run took K-State to a 27-23 and forced the final Iowa State timeout. The Wildcats were carried to the 30-25 win in the second by three final points on Spiegelberg kills.
Iowa State came out of the break looking to avoid a sweep by earning a 4-1 lead early in the third game. The Cats stormed back with a 9-2 run including two kills from both Liliom and Farr to gain a 10-6 lead and force a timeout. With three straight Cyclone points, K-State took its first timeout of the game and returned to the court with three straight kills from Korobkova to pull to a 13-9 lead. After Chipman's second service ace, Iowa State went on a 7-1 run to earn its first lead since 5-4 at 20-19.
KSU returns to Ahearn Field House on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. matchup against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
