Big plays doom Mustangs in Mid-East League duel

FLUSH — Both St. Marys and Rock Creek are unlikely to ever be mistaken for the high-powered passing offenses evolving in college football today. Both teams entered Friday night's contest as run-oriented teams.

In Silver Lake, Riley County wasted no time Friday night in getting things started. The Falcons used a 20-point first quarter to take a 20-9 lead into the second period and the Eagles could never get all the way back as the Falcons defeated Lake 62-55 Friday night.

At Effingham, Riley County dominated from start to finish, scoring the game's first 34 points, as the Falcons cruised past ACCHS 34-7 Tuesday night to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Falcons (5-5) will host Rossville (8-2) Saturday night.
