Victim ID'd in slaying that led to Kansas standoff
Associated Press

AURORA, Colo. Authorities have identified the victim found slain at a Colorado motel that sparked a manhunt and standoff in Kansas where two newlyweds were taken hostage in their home.

Aurora police Monday say the man is 25-year-old Michael Curtis. Police say Curtis had suffered trauma to his upper body when he was found Thursday in the Denver suburb of Aurora but are releasing no other details.

Kansas authorities say Curtis's death is apparently drug-related. Authorities captured 23-year-old Jesse Dennis Dimmick in Kansas Saturday after he fell asleep in the newlyweds' Dover, Kansas, home.

Dimmick is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and theft charges in Curtis' death. A second suspect 35-year-old, Shayne Miller, was also captured in Kansas and is being held on suspicion of felony murder and theft.
