Steers, swine sell well at fair sale

A steer from Randolph took the top prize at the Riley County Fair livestock auction Monday night, Riley County officials said.

The steer, which was owned by Jacob Hagenmaier of the Randolph Ramblers 4-H Club, sold for $2,100 to Sink, Gillmore & Gordon and Dick Edwards Ford. The Reserve Champion steer, owned by Bryce Kotewa of Ashland 4-H, sold for $900 to the publication Grass & Grain.

Goats and swine also fared well. Willard Olson Farms bought the grand champion market swine from Cortney Nagel for $1,150. No Reserve Champion Swine sold.
