A Manhattan restaurant failed to make the final cut in the ''8 Wonders of Kansas cuisine'' promotion contest. But a Council Grove restaurant did make it.

The Hibachi Hut in Aggieville had been identified last month as one of 24 facilities under consideration for the honor, promoted by the Kansas Food Sampler Foundation. In the end, votes cast by more than 13,000 persons did not land the Hut in the top eight.

The Hays House was included, however. Located in Council Grove, it is the oldest continuously operating restaurant west of the Mississippi River.
