Basic cooking can be a challenge without these simple tools
Stocking a kitchen

Starting from scratch with your first kitchen isn't easy. Once you begin cooking, you realize that it takes tons of utensils and products just to complete a simple meal. Without a can opener, you won't be able to open those Spaghetti O's. Without a colander, you can't strain macaroni.
This list is neither comprehensive nor minimalistic — most people could get by without several of the items — but it will help you check off some of the most common things people need in their kitchens. Once you get these basic items, then you can start splurging on springform pans and extra-virgin olive oil.
