Mendez lone highlight for Cross Country squad

LAWRENCE — There were no surprises here Friday at the Big 12 Conference cross country championships as the Colorado Buffaloes won both titles, and the Kansas State runners placed last in both the men's and women's divisions.

"It was the reality going in," said KSU coach Michael Smith. "We're not happy about it (12th place finishes), but that's pretty much where we thought we would finish."

K-State's lone quality run came from Liliani Mendez, who placed 15th in the women's race with a time of 21:47.
