Wildcats' rowing squad advances to final
Staff reports

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The Kansas State rowing team took to the waters in the Central Regional on Saturday with the First Varsity 8+ advancing to the Petite Final.

The First Varsity 8+ put together a strong race, beating Indiana by nearly eight seconds after being beaten by the same crew four weeks ago at the Southern IRAs. The Wildcats completed the 2,000-meter course in 6:38.61 to finish third in its preliminary heat and advance to the A/B semifinal in the afternoon session.

K-State's Second Varsity 8+ and First Novice 8+ each had some technical mistakes in the morning races, costing them higher rankings in their division. In the afternoon, however, the Second Varsity 8+ recovered to make a stronger showing in the C/D semifinal, securing a place in Sunday's C final.
