Seven Kansas State rowers were listed as CRCA National Scholar Athletes for the 2008 season as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Senior Bjai Rice led the Wildcats honorees after earning the accolade for the third consecutive year.

Rice, who was recently named to the 2008 All-Region Second Team by the CRCA, was nominated with a 3.835 grade point average in nutritional science. The Wildcats listed four additional student-athletes as Scholars Athletes for the second-consecutive year. Heather Hoffman (3.969, communication sciences and disorders), Michael Knoll (3.907, sociology), Nicole Vogt (3.797, architectural engineering) and Elizabeth Walter (3.673, nutrition and exercise science) all earned the honor for the second time.

First-time honorees include Michelle Higgins (3.95, nutritional science) and Whitney Revell (3.581, animal science).

To be considered a CRCA National Scholar Athlete, student-athletes must have obtained a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for their career as well as participate in a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races or raced in a regional conference event.

K-State rowers were also recently named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll, with 36 rowers being listed. Six of those receiving the recognition accumulated a 4.0 GPA through the semester, including CRCA Scholar Athletes Hoffman and Knoll. Also with a perfect GPA were Michelle Bergman (kinesiology), Kate Dillon (nutrition and exercise science), Amanda Keim (pre-journalism) and Amanda Weishaar (open option).
