After the Blue Valley boys knocked off regional host Wakefield 79-45 on Friday, they were feeling great.

That carried over into Saturday's game as the No. 1-seed Rams topped No. 2 seed Tescott 55-28 to advance to substate. The Rams will learn on Sunday whether the will play in the Clay Center or Riley County Class 1A substate.

Blue Valley's win was led by a strong third-quarter effort in which the Rams outscored Tescott 23-3 after leading 20-13 at halftime.

"We were great in that third quarter," Blue Valley coach Brad Burkdoll said. "We were active and played with the confidence we played with (Friday)."

Blake Fronce led the Rams with 14 points, while Ryan Lund added 12.

Both the Frankfort and Blue Valley girls teams lost in their quest for regional titles Saturday. The Wildcats fell 50-33 to No. 1-seed Centralia at the Centralia regional. Frankfort (18-5) suffered three of its five losses to Centralia this season.

The Rams lost a close game 42-40 to No. 2-seed Southern Cloud in the Wakefield regional. Blue Valley (11-11), the No. 4 seed, upset No. 1-seed Wakefield in overtime on Thursday to earn the spot in the championship game.

FRIDAY

Centralia 55, Frankfort 51

The Frankfort Wildcats kept their regional matchup with Centralia close all game long, but it wasn't enough.

Centralia grabbed a slim four-point lead and held on to it throughout the second half to win 55-51 at Centralia.

The Wildcats (16-6) were by Mark Wulscleger's 15 points, while Wade Ahlvers added 14 and Caleb Broxterman 11.

Centralia didn't need many double-digit scorers as Ben Steinlage came up with 28 points.

Blue Valley 79, Wakefield 45

Even though they were the No. 1 seed, the Blue Valley Rams had to travel to Wakefield for Friday's regional game.

The Rams (18-3) had no problems playing on the road as they knocked off Wakefield 79-45 and advanced to the regional championship.

Jacob Tucker led the way for Blue Valley,  scoring 21 points, while Ryan Lund added 18 points and Blake Fronce 16.
