Jason L. Moski

Spc. Jason Moski , 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery, Feb. 25, 2005

Everybody liked Jason Moski for his easy-going nature and sense of humor.

"He was excited about life and was very easy to like and love," remarked Rev. Virgil Parsons, who presided over the soldier's funeral in New Holland, S.C. Moski , 24, was killed along with two other soldiers in an explosion in Taji Feb. 25, 2005. A 1999 high school graduate, Moski played football and was a devoted musician. His specialty was the drums.

Ann Faugl, one of his teachers, remembered his "wonderful (and sometimes mischievous) sense of humor." She recalled one prank he had played on her, hiding an open can of sardines in her classroom. "I diligently searched for what it was that was making my room stink," she said. After two weeks, she discovered a "moldy, dried up canister ...hidden in the corner of my closet under the overhead projector." Jason 'fessed up, apologized, "and we all had a good laugh," she said.

"He was just an overall good kid," teacher Phyllis Gantt said. "All of us remember him fondly."

Moski worked at a manufacturing plant before he enlisted in the Army in August 2002. He was deployed to Iraq in February.
