So, what more can our City do to run people off.  Amazing!!  You would think, with taxes spiraling up... out of sight... we would do our best to make our citizens feel welcome.  Evidently, our City departments are confident enough of their jobs there is no longer any hesitation in angering the citizens.

Last week's Sunday paper carried the letter from the gentleman who had been kept up by the construction work on 4th Street.  Today, we have a letter from an Army wife who we want to fine for having her Christmas lights up.  If... IF our City departments have nothing better to do than issue letters for Christmas lights, we are waaaayyyyy overstaffed.  Let's spend our time on tasks that will make Manhattan more attractive to its citizens.  If not, let's send some of the excess "baggage" in these departments packing.  The savings in personnel costs could go a long ways in paying for the spending habits of this Commission!!

It seems like my quote for today has mysteriously disappeared. Could it be the work of GOD? Surely Mr. Ned would not do such a thing. I will try again.

"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."

Wal-Mart has again raised prices on items.  (I think their corporate office is trying to make up the money they paid to the injured woman in Missouri.)  It seems like everytime I go shopping at Wal-Mart, they've raised some of the prices.  Of course, the official line is that the "corporate office" did it.  And, they won't let you file a complaint -- they have no paper complaint forms nor do they pass complaints on to the corporate office.  Even on their website I couldn't find a way to contact the corporate office.  Does anyone know how to do this??  So I won't shop at Wal-Mart anymore; and I'd like to encourage others to boycott them as well.  Your thoughts?

A forum topic was removed at the request of several readers. Regardless of whether the topic contained something inappropriate or not, I would refer you to the "Civility on these forums" topic. Attacking a group of people because of what they believe in is not good forum etiquette.

going pro isn't the right choice for everyone

"Bill WalkerKansas State
Stats: 16.1 ppg, 6.3 rpg

Walker hasn't signed with an agent, and the freshman should not even be entertaining the idea of turning pro. At 6-6, Walker needs to improve his ballhandling skills and his shooting range to show he can play on the perimeter in the NBA. The former-five star recruit shot 30.7 percent (35-of-114) from the college 3-point line. He also needs to show he can be a more consistent scoring threat. Walker has the ideal opportunity to do all that if he stays in school. The departure of Beasley, who will be the first or second pick in the draft, creates a huge void for the Wildcats. Beasley averaged 26.2 points. Walker isn't going to replace those stats, but he could be the Wildcats' go-to guy and get as many shots as he wants next season."

I see us going 1-11 this year, whats going to happen is these non-conferance jokers ie: N Texas, Montana State will get the playbook Appalachian State used on Michigan last year. So regretably this leaves us with a one possible win over Lousiana-Lafayette and that is only if we catch them napping. We have talent but ron does not know how to put players in the right positions.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up. Awaji appears to be a pretty good shooting guard. Good news for the Cats.

There is a report on cnnsi.com concerning Academic Progress Reports. It says about halfway down that KSU is in trouble of losing 2 scholarships next year.

So if my math is correct from the related article. Prince still has 4 years left on his original 5 year deal. (5 year deal, after 1st year an additional year was added automatically minus the 2 years he has been here =4 yrs left)

I am all for giving Prince a chance. However how does the "new" AD think it is a great idea to reward Prince with an extension and probably pay raise after two mediocre at best season, marked with little or no improvement throughout the season. Let him prove he can win, then talk extension.
